U15 Squad In Cup Final Win to Complete Double

1 month ago By Lee Peskett

Graham Overton's U15 squad came out on top this morning to complete a League and League Knock-out Cup double .....

“Sports kept their cool during the penalties - but the hero was the young Boro 'keeper Harry Gutsell saving 3 penalties to earn the win.”

..... in an absorbing encounter at Peacehaven & Telscombe FC.

The young Sports started badly when going a goal down in the opening 5 minutes to Seagulls, and worse was to come as the side went into half-time 3-0 down. However a squad does not win the league without resilience, and some tactical and team changes saw the side pull all 3 goals back - 2 from the penalty spot via Leo Baccino and Jordan Willoughby, but suffer a red card for 2 'yellows' and a reduction to 10 men.

Extra-time came and went with Boro still on the front foot - but neither side could breach some committed defending and acrobatic 'keeping.

Sports kept their cool during the penalties - but the hero was the young Boro 'keeper Harry Gutsell saving 3 penalties to earn the win.

Congratulations to the squad and coaches for an excellent season, and we look forward to the U16's looking to copy the 15's success at Lancing FC, Sussex FA HQ, on the 15th of April.
