New Boro management team Tommy Widdrington and Alan Kimble wasted no time following their appointment to the Priory Lane hotseats .....

..... as they set about meeting staff and volunteers at the ground, and speaking to the local press this morning.

Tommy and Alan have agreed to stay at Priory Lane until the end of the 2013/2014 season and they will work in a part-time capacity as they strive to improve the clubs immediate league position, with an eye on future progress.

When asked if it was an easy choice to take up 'The Sports' challenge Widdrington responded "Yes it was really." He went on to describe that he had been offered other jobs after his departure from Southend and he was grateful for his role at Hemel hempstead Town, a club he believes he left on good terms. However the chance to work at a club that closely mirrors previous employers Salisbury City was too good to turn down.

He went on to describe that he sees a key strength of his as the ability to stabilise teams "..... something that I was often brought in to do as a player ....." and is a requirement in the current Boro situation.

Tommy went on to discuss that he knows the players well as opposition and that looking at past performance and achievements that the current crop of players are underperforming at this time.

When asked about his immediate and future aims he was quick to point out the success achieved under Garry Wilson and Nick Greenwood. "To emulate the previous management is nigh on impossible in terms of promotions" but he hopes that a 'change' will allow the current squad to break the "losing habit" and start to achieve the league position the club requires in the near term but then to continue the long term "upward trajectory" the club has established over the last decade. "Each player has a chance but they need to perform" appeared to be the thrust of the conversation.

Tommy was flanked by Chairman Len Smith and Assistant Alan Kimble. Kimble desribed his role as working on planning and at training in partnership with Widdrington througout the week, and a particular focus of his appeared to be player and squad fitness. He also reiterated the desire to return to winning ways as early as possible to improve not only league standing but also confidence and start to generate winning as opposed to losing "habits".

The next part of the Eastbourne Borough journey starts here.
