Taylor Scores Again But Unbeaten Run Ends

2 months ago By Lee Peskett

Dartford FC went to of the table with a 4-2 victory over Jamie Howell's Sports in Kent on Tuesday night .....

..... but the scoreline does not reveal the full story.

Boro were dominant for the first 20 minutes before against the run of play the hosts took the lead with a low drive. This prompted a spell of Dartford pressure but the score remained 1-0 until half time.

Sports, as per Saturday, came out of the blocks and 2 half-chances to equalise were snuffed out by the home side. On the hour Dartford doubled their lead. A right-wing corner was headed home simply at the back post - 2-0, and quarter of an hour later a free-kick again headed home for 3.

With 15 to go Sports made changes to personnel and shape and sprung into life. With 7 to go Jamie Taylor worked space on the edge of the box and fired home giving a glimpse of hope. However on 87 minutes an attempt at a quick free-kick saw a prone Darts player flick his foot at the ball inside the 10 yards and set up a colleague to race clear and score - surely a re-take in all other circumstances !

At 4-1 there was still time for an own goal to gift a second for Boro but the unbeaten run ended away at a side on the night they went top - and Sports forced the Kent side into conceding 1/4 of their goals all season so far.

Next up - Carshalton in the FA Cup.
