Cole made an immediate impact at the club last season after stepping up from the Sussex County League when he joined The Sports from Rye United.
Widdrington told the Boro website that "Sam was a player in demand and we have fought off interest from other clubs to retain his services. I hope this indicates my intention, as stated, that I will and have been looking to recruit players I feel can take the football club forward, irrespective of whether I knew them before I arrived. Sam showed he could handle the vast majority of the things required after stepping up to this level. I will now be looking for him not to rest on that but to make further strides now he's had a taste. I believe there is more to come from him !"
