Priory Lane Hosts “World Cup”

By Lee Peskett

Last Saturday saw Eastbourne Borough FC stage their first ever 'World Cup Fun Day' .....

..... for their youngest age groups at the club. Boys and girls aged between 3 and 9 arrived wearing red, white, yellow or blue to represent either Spain, England, Brazil or Italy. After a hilarious warm up and the National Anthems, all four countries played out a spectacular World Cup football tournament on the stadium pitch in what the club hope will now be an annual event at Priory Lane. In a carnival atmosphere the sun shone, food, music & colour were everywhere and both the players and parents played some incredibly exciting football all morning. With 18 matches played followed by a nerve wracking 'Coaches Challenge,' Spain finally pipped England on goal difference by 2 goals to lift the World Cup in front of 200 cheering fans! A fabulous morning played in the right spirit, ending with first team player Dan Blackmore presenting medals to every child.
