Eastbourne Borough have not won their opening day fixture since the 07/08 season. That statistic would be continued as Dorchester fought back to claim victory - but many who were present at the game will have to think long and hard for a better performance (over 80 minutes) than that in Dorset.

The new look side saw seven (including one sub) making their Sports debuts, but there was little evidence of a lack of understanding, guile or composure that such wholesale change could bring. So it must be with some confidence, and a desire to correct Saturdays result, that Boro approach the visit of Bromey.

The Kent side hosted Staines Town on Saturday, 0-0 the final score, and they have recently recruited ex Sport Richard Pacquette. After a difficult pre-season Bromley’s league campaign got off to a frustrating start at home to Marcus Gayle’s new look Swans, the visitors strong defence proving a difficult nut to crack for Bromley - and the home sidde also wasteful in front of goal.

Following the Dorchester game Widdrington commented, "We were really pleased at how fluent we were in possession and solid defensively for 88 minutes and considering 6 of the starting line up and 1 of the subs were making debuts we must take the positives and continue to work towards our aims. Second half I thought we were going to put a bit of daylight between us and them but the fact we didn't meant they always had a chance"

It is hoped that the side can build on the Dorchester performance, but equally the visitors will be buoyed by a clean sheet and point in the bag on the opening day of the season. An intriguing fixture awaits.
