Huge Point On The Road At Hampton

4 months ago By Lee Peskett

Gary Charman made his 2nd Sports debut and after an assured start was sent to the changing room as he hauled a Hampton striker .....

..... to the floor after an error allowed a clear run to goal. Ironically if the foul had been in the box only a yellow would have been appropriate - but Hampton made Boro pay as the shot rested in the bottom corner - the worst of all outcomes.

However, before the incident Sports had been pressing for a goal - and a goal was earned as Matt Drage was about to fire goalwards but was unceremoniously knocked to the floor (no yellow awarded). Nat Pinney (pictured) converted confidently.

Will Hendon was 'controversially' awarded a yellow for time wasting as most in the crowd waited for a Hampton substitution - and then a second as he mistimed a tackle to give a way a late penalty (note no yellow for the Drage incident!).

Hampton skied the penalty - but would 9 tired minds and limbs service - yes the answer.

No lack of endeavour, no lack of heart, a fine point for Jamie Howell and his Sports squad at Hampton and Richmond Borough.
