The best way to keep up to date with Eastbourne Borough FC - The Sports

Camrose Visit Preview

6 years ago By Lee Peskett

Eastbourne Borough look ahead to Saturday’s away game with Basingstoke Town knowing that a win will ensure they are mathematically safe from relegation, in what has been a difficult first season back in the Blue Square South.

However Basingstoke have plenty to play for with a victory paramount in their search for promotion via the play-offs.

A crucial 2-0 victory over Hampton & Richmond last week means The Sports sit 15th in the table but Tommy Widdrington’s side will be keen to finish as high as possible. New signing Charles Ademeno has added some much needed firepower up top, his first goal for the club coming in the victory last week giving Widdrington a welcome selection headache ahead of this week’s match.

The Dragon’s on the other hand are looking to complete a domestic double over Eastbourne following November’s 2-0 victory at Priory Lane. Top scorer Delano Sam-Yorke is no doubt the main threat and The Sports will have to keep him as quiet as possible if they are to come away with anything from what will surely be a tricky fixture.

Eastbourne Borough Team News:

Manager Tommy Widdrington does not have any suspension concerns ahead of this weekend’s game but is facing a welcome selection headache as he weighs up his choice of strikeforce with in-form striker Charles Ademeno firmly on his mind. Ademeno came off of the bench to devastating effect on Saturday, scoring the second goal in the Sports crucial 2-0 victory over Hampton & Richmond and could be rewarded with a start. The side will however be without Alex Lacey who has returned to Luton Town.
Boro’ know that a win over play-off chasing Basingstoke would confirm their place in the Blue Square South although a draw or defeat may also keep the Sports in the league if results elsewhere go in their favour.
